MIND RACING, STARTING everything 🏁
FINISHING NOTHING.
Overwhelmed by 9 am
too much isn’t it?
Wanna try something different instead? 🪄
A daily method that tackles all your repeatable tasks.
A method that is actually made for you, an ambitious woman with a to-do list longer than her right leg.
This is the Time Buckets Method.
Most productivity advice, habit stacking, time blocking and the like, was written for people who aren’t also in charge of wrangling kids, remembering the dentist appointment, the permission slip, what’s for dinner, packing bags, that the school trip is tomorrow, and that someone needs new shoes.
People who sit down to work and just… work. No interruptions. No one needing a snack. No mental load running quietly in the background like seventeen tabs you can’t close.
That’s not your life. And it’s not mine either.
I used to let my day be steered by whatever I noticed or remembered next.
Put on laundry. Reply to that email. “Wait, where are your clothes? I just put them on you!” Oh wait, my vitamins — I was about to take them. They’re in the cupboard. Ok. Hang on, where’s my water bottle?
I was doing all the things. Constantly. But it left me drained and scattered. Starting things and not finishing them. Half the time, those vitamins were still in the cupboard by the end of the day because I’d forgotten by the time I got there.
I knew there must be a better way.
Advice to “just pick three things” is cute. But you still have to brush your teeth, feed your kids, put the laundry on, make lunch, do the school run, reset the kitchen, so that’s six before you’ve even started your actual day.
So I put my business hat on. I made systems in my business all the time. Why not for my life?
If I were running this like a business, I’d have a system. A repeatable process. Not in my head and NOT on my phone where I’d get distracted easily, but out in physical form. Methodical but flexible. What do I do first? What can I leave for a minute, knowing I’ll get to it and won’t forget?
So I built one.
I don’t usually say things changed my life, that’s quite a big claim.
But this actually did.
Our weeks are made up of our days.
Sort the days, and the weekly and monthly planning becomes so much easier.
We tend to start with bigger picture, but if you can flip it and get your days working smoothly, the rest feels so much easier.
Sort the day. The weeks follow. The months follow.
The big stuff starts to actually feel possible.
We have so many tasks that repeat on a daily and weekly basis. This handles them all.
What Time Buckets gives you.
You wake up and you already know the shape of the day. Not every detail, just the shape. Whatever works for your life, built around your energy, your family, your season.
The repeating stuff happens because it has a home. The vitamins get taken because they’re in the morning bucket, after the water bottle is filled, which is first because that’s the logical order. You don’t have to think about it. It just flows.
Your actual work gets your actual attention, because it’s not competing with “remember to put the laundry in the dryer” anymore.
And somewhere in there, rest is scheduled. Not earned. Scheduled. Because you are on the list too.
“Without it: chaotic, desperate, overwhelmed, mind racing. With it: organised, calm, like I could do anything and live my life to my potential.”
That’s from a real person who uses Time Buckets
